Creating Screen Shots

Good software design requires good screen shots/mock-ups but who has the time to do those in Illustrator or, even better, actual HTML? That’s way too difficult. Instead, download the amazing SnagIt software from TechSmith. Then, open Firefox and run Firebug (if you don’t know what Firebug is then you’re missing out so download it ASAP). Mock up your HTML to include the text you want and SnagIt! Repeat and you’ll soon have enough content that you can manipulate the images together in SnagIt for a solid design.

Software Design 101

This is the thing about software: it is never done so it is way too easy to over-complicate it. The key is to find the balance where the software is good enough. That is why my mantra when designing software is "done is better than perfect".
